I Survived the Rapture!

WHEW!  THAT was a close one! Now that it's May 22 and I watched at midnight at work this morning [night shift] and with not a peep of trouble...I can sigh in relief! Now that THAT is out of the way, I can get back to blogging and working and spending time with my family.  It's a good thing I didn't sell off my dear home or liquidate all my savings! Oh there was that earthquake.....so....yeah...I guess we felt the wrath...! ..yeah..That's what that was...the world ending. Oh wait no, just the crust rising and breaking apart, as it does some 7000 times a year in New Zealand.

So I just noticed, perhaps Amazon got a little scared, because they just slashed the price of a fairly decent add-on to a swell game called Dragon Age: Origins Awakening. It's only about 13 bucks [oooo...13!] with shipping and that's not too bad for a add-on! Just thought I'd share that with you all.  It'd be a good primer for Dragon Age 2, if you haven't picked that one up already.  Amazon is a strange beast indeed.

So how did everyone else fair after the [lack] of catastrophic apocalypse of yesterday? What did you, my humble blog readers, feel about all that? Any comments about Mr. Harold Camping? Where is he anyways, has he responded yet? Anyone religious/non- religious can comment, I always promote a respectful commenting forum here, so speaketh to your hearts desire!

And oh yeah, R.I. P. Macho Man Randy Savage....   :(
You seemed like you were a cool guy in real life.

New Counter-Strike:Source Map - Osama Bin Laden Abbottabad Compound Raid

It's funny, the very first thing I thought of after news of the the terrorist's death, [after WOW!] was...man, that is going to be a sweet map on CounterStrike: Source/Call of Duty/ARMA2/[insert favorite FPS here].

Sure enough, many closet and indie dev's began the task as soon as it crossed my mind. While we have some of the lamer attempts at the mission, curtesy of a clunky, browser FPS called 'Bin Laden Raid', there is still some talent out there giving a more faithful attempt at a mission that's details are obviously still a matter of theory.

Thus, people can now get their hands on the far better [if not dated] game engine of Valve's CounterStrike and download this new map scenario - called "de_abbottabad" It's available HERE at the website Game Banana. It was added four days ago and has been downloaded nearly 12,500 times by Tuesday afternoon, according to the site. See full story at NYDAILYNEWS.COM HERE
There...Now you can go enjoy and satisfy all your inner-most Navy Seal warrior fantasies of killing Bin Laden! I know I will!!
In the level, users can choose a variety of gameplay scenarios that take place at a terrorist's compound designed after Bin Laden's Abbottabad hideaway. (Fletch/GameBanana)

Osama Bin Laden Dead - The Hunt is Over!

"Osama Bin Laden is dead, President Obama announced Sunday night, in a televised address to the nation. His death was the result of a U.S. operation launched today in Abbottabad, Pakistan, against a compound where bin Laden was believed to be hiding, according to U.S. intelligence. After a firefight, a small team of American forces killed bin Laden and took possession of his body, the president said.
“Tonight I can report to the American people and the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden,” Obama said during brief remarks at the White House.

“Justice has been done,” he said, in comments that marked a formal end of the manhunt for the most visible and emotionally-charged symbol of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
The president said U.S. intelligence operatives received a tip in August on bin Laden’s whereabouts, which ultimately led to Sunday’s attack. Obama said he determined last week that the U.S. had enough reliable information to take action; by Sunday morning, he had authorized “a small team of Americans” to conduct an operation targeting bin Laden.
“After a fire fight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body,” the president said. “No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties.”
Obama said the 9/11 attacks that bin Laden and his lieutenants orchestrated nearly 10 years ago remain “the worst attack on the American people in our history” and said the images of the crumbling Twin Towers “are seared into our national memory.”

The president emphasized that Americans “did not choose this fight” against al Qaeda, but rather, “it came to our shores.” He praised U.S. military and intelligence professionals for working “tirelessly to achieve this outcome.” To the families of 9/11 victims, he noted that the U.S. has “never forgotten your loss.”
“Tonight, let us think back to the sense of unity that prevailed on 9/11,” Obama said. “I know that it has, at times, frayed. Yet today’s achievement is a testament to the greatness of our country and the determination of the American people.”

As stated in my next post: you can now get your hands on  Valve's Counter-Strike new map scenario - called "fy_abbottabad" It's available HERE at the website Game Banana.
